Activities in and around Wilderness

Cloverleigh Guest House is centrally situated for all the many famous golf courses in George and even Knysna.

Within easy reach of Oudtshoorn for a visit to the Cango Caves, Ostrich farms and a spectacular drive trough the Swartberg Pass to Prince Albert.

While in the area visit Calitz Dorp for a Port or wine tasting.

Knysna and the famous Oats Farmers market in Sedgefield is a short drive away.

Wilderness is surrounded by many rivers, natural lakes and lagoons. The 2500ha National Park comprises five rivers, five lakes, two estuaries and 18km of coastline.

Wilderness is a great spot for watersport enthusiasts, angling, boating and other watersports.

Wilderness also offers excellent birding opportunities; many types of water birds breed here.

Other recreation includes hiking, dolphin & whale–watching, horse riding, mountain–biking, hang–gliding, paragliding, scenic drives, day tours & Wilderness Lakes Art Route.

Kaaimans River Bridge, Dolphin Point and The Map of Africa are excellent spots for taking photographs and whale watching.

Take a day trip on the Choo–Choo from the George Transport Museum to the Maritime Museum in Mosselbay.
